Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins

Katniss Everdeen, girl on fire, has survived, even though her home has been destroyed. Gale has escaped. Katniss's family is safe. Peeta has been captured by the Capitol. District 13 really does exist. There are rebels. There are new leaders. A revolution is unfolding.

I thought it was a good read, but definitely didn't live up to the expectations I had from the first and second books (the first especially). The plot was good and the writing was awesome as it always is, but I felt there wasn't such a traumatic triangle between Gale, Peeta, and Katniss as there was in the first two. I wanted to see more of that and not just all of the bomb sequences, missiles, and things like that. I did feel like sometimes the author wanted to hurry on to the next part so some missions ans training were glossed over. One page she's nervous about it and the next she's finished with it and we didn't hear what happened.

I still enjoyed it though I was disappointed in the ending. As I said, it was pretty apparent who she was going to pick from the beginning. I wish I could've been more surprised with that aspect and the ending was really gruesome and made my stomach churn. I know it was necessary, but it just made me wince.

Great review! I think that most people were expecting an epic love/romance story, but what I loved about the series is that it played out the character's innermost desires and reactions to the violence around them. I feel that was conveyed perfectly, and while I was devastated by much of the book, I wouldn't change a single page :)

Sorry to hear that you didn't like the ending! I haven't started the series yet, but I really want to. Excellent review!

I also had some problems with it.

I keep seeing this book in nearly every blog I read & then saw it in the bookstore, so I guess it's the newest popular craze in reading. I'm adding it to the TBR list, which goes on forever, it seems :oD

I'm new to book blogging & am liking yours so far. I'll start following it. Looks like I'm the first...yay!

I thought the same thing :)
But I still loved it.

By the way, I love your Youtube videos, you're so fun to watch! (Not meaning to sound creepy, you just have a very soothing voice so I don't get annoyed ;D)
